The Rushbearing Procession
The Rushbearing Procession, a collaborative installation and performance with Jane Bravery at Newchurch, 22 September 2019 for Art in Romney Marsh, 2019. A revival of the ancient tradition of bringing rushes into the church, and a sequence of offerings on pateras celebrating the fecundity of Romney Marsh on the cusp of the autumn equinox.
The procession into the church and ceremony was filmed by Tom Ward, commissioned by Screen South.
